2025
This series is inspired by mid century wrought iron balustrade and door grilles. They act as security to prevent intruders but draw you in with their elegant repeat geometric designs.
Cobogo
2024
A Cobogo is a perforated geometric screen that allows light and ventilation into a building. They have a decorative and functional purpose. The term was coined from the names of the three Brazilian engineers who devised the concept. They emigrated to Faro, Portugal in the 1950s and built many modernist villas in the city. The colour relationships in the paintings are inspired by he distinctive palette used on the buildings.
Bindingarmynstur
2025
This series was inspired by a visit to the Faroe Islands. The dramatic stepped rock formations are referred to in the knitting pattern designs used for the composition. The colour relationships are derived from the brightly painted houses and the variations in wool colour of the native sheep that roam freely.
South Beach
2024
The inspiration for this group of paintings comes from the colours and architectural features of the iconic hotels along South Beach in Miami.
Marine Parade
2021-24
The Marine Parade series is inspired by the structure and distinctive palette of beach huts. These vulnerable structures perch precariously on the sea edge, defiantly optimistic against the elements.

Diagrams of historic costume patterns, which render the human figure as measurements and cut out shapes, are the inspiration for this series.
